Sun Cross – handmade solid silver pendant
The Sun cross is probably the oldest religious symbol in the world, appearing in Asian, American, European, and Indian religious art from the dawn of history. Composed of a equal armed cross within a circle, it represents the solar calendar- the movements of the sun, marked by the solstices. This pendant is based on a petroglyph found at Madsebakke (Denmark)
In the bronze age, the Sun’s celestial dance governs the progression of seasons, influencing the optimal times for planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops. Expressing gratitude to the sun becomes second nature, especially in the wake of a bountiful harvest. Your very survival hinges not only on the sun’s role in agriculture but also on its utility in navigation. When journeying to a neighboring village for trade, swapping cattle skins for a bronze cloak pin and neck rings, the sun becomes your reliable guide. Its position serves as a navigational compass, aiding your traverse through the vast landscapes and seas that surround your world. In the Bronze Age, the sun isn’t just a celestial body; it’s woven into daily existence, shaping aspects from agriculture to spirituality. Sun symbols in Bronze Age art aren’t coincidental but a testament to the profound influence of the sun on ancient societies
